A quick summary of Concord, Massachusetts

"At 1:44 p.m., a Bedford Street caller reported a sick squirrel that was bloated and unable to move. Police ended the animal's nut gathering days."

    I think this is the second time I've seen this. And ... I still don't get it.

    So they used "ended it's nut gathering days" as a euphemism for killing it? Or is there some inherent humor in the cops putting a squrrel down? or am I missing something completely? @_@;;;;
